Going in for mine tomorrow morning. Listen - Call the number on your prep sheet and ask if it's ok (given your circumstances) to take fewer Dulcolax tablets. Most everyone I've asked mentioned ~8/10 or extreme stomach cramping after taking 4 Dulcolax tabs (20mg Bisacodyl) When I asked, the nurse told me it was perfectly fine to take 3 or even 2 of these tablets, provided I've been diligent with the rest of the prep requirements. As long as you get the OK from someone in your gastro dept to do this, please save yourself some of the struggle and be sure to drink a lot of water even prior to chugging the 4L of prep solution. Best of luck y'all!

You can get a colonoscopy without being sedated. I had mine this way eight years ago at age 56. It feels like really bad gas --not painless, but certainly endurable. However, I was clean. If you really have the disease, I'm told the pain can be MUCH worse.

Iron anemia can also be caused by a hemhorroid that is reguarly bleeding.....i know unfortunately lol. I've had the lot, Colonoscopy, Flexible Sigmoidoscopy (which is a lower colonoscopy) and also Hemhorroid surgery because the banding wasnt successful. Dont get me wrong getting polyps removed is good as they could potentially develop into cancer sometime in the future (piece of mind). Think ive developed iron anemia again (white fingernails and pins and needles in hands) from yet another lovely hemhorroid, gonna get a blood test in the new year to confirm. Dont ignore iron anemia as it can become more serious down the line if left untreated.

Seriously who wants to have a spear inserted up their butthole and camera crew crawling through their colon? I didn’t have sedative. The bowel prep was also disgusting and I only got 4 Hours sleep. He already has had two small ones removed successfully-but specialist told him-another specialist will be needed who has the ability and tools, etc; to remove this larger polyp. Highly recommended. If you have any suspicion, go and make it. If it’s nothing serious then you’ll be enjoying life without worries, if there’s something more serious you’ll be able to take measures sooner which is always better. I did it under anesthesia, felt absolutely nothing. The preparation was a bit tough but not a big deal.

The only problem i had with my 1st Colonoscopy was the Prep!! I LOVE salt, yet trying to GAG down the GoLitely Prep was impossible even with the Flavorings I was told to use!!! Had to call on day of procedure to let them know i hadn't drank all of the prep & wasn't 100% clear, so we had to Reschedule & Nurse said she didnt know WHY they gadnt told me to use MiraLax. Needless to say, I got the MiraLax down Alot easier & the procedure was a breeze!! Sooooo, unless you can Gag down that GoLitely Crap just use MiraLax!! Getting ready to do my 2nd Colonoscopy next week & told Nurse when scheduling the appt to Not even order GoLitely for me cuz i won't do it again!!
